Palawan Resident Finds Two Small Pearls In A Tipay, The Mother of Pearl

If there's one word to best describe Palawan, the word "paradise" is certainly a perfect fit. Apart from its amazing and beautiful beaches comparable to the world's most famous, the endemic flora and fauna, where can you find the longest navigable underground river in the world?

Coming from Palawan myself, it gives me so much pride that the world is starting to get to know more of how wonderful the island of Palawan is. It makes me smile whenever it is being featured on popular travel websites and magazines.

And just yesterday, yes, only yesterday, Mr. Rowell Roy Rodriguez or Palawan Peacock, posted a photo of himself warning tour guides and travel agencies to inform their guests and visitors to be careful in eating Tipay, a type of clam thriving in the waters of the island.

Why? Because he was eating and almost swallow a tipay housing two small pearls - and we all know pearls has some value, right? LoL.

It only goes to say that Palawan is indeed a paradise rich in natural resources.

Trivia: The largest pearl in the world called "The Pearl of Allah" was found off the coast of Palawan some 60+ years ago.

    Where?

    Correct. In a tipay!
