Tourist arrivals in Palawan bigger than the island's population
With its maturing tourism industry, Palawan is showing no
signs of stopping in getting more tourist arrivals and making itself more
popular by the day.
According to a recent data from the Department of Tourism
(DOT), Palawan acquired more than 900,000 visitor arrivals in 2014,
outnumbering the residents to 7-to-1.
Palawan's provincial government is targeting to receive 1.4
million visitor arrivals by the end of the year and 3.5 million in 10 years.
Tourism infrastructure, connectivity, livelihood, water,
electricity and the like, will be the provincial government's priority so as to
serve the increasing tourist arrivals, said Palawan Governer Jose Alvarez.
DOT Region IV-B director Minerva Morada revealed that
roughly P2.07 billion has been earmarked by the provincial governtment of
Palawan to develop tourism.
Morada said this amount will be used for over 30 convergence projects.
